Raised in a devout Catholic home in 1950s Detroit, being gay simply wasn’t an option for Jim Kruz.
For most of his life, Jim played the heterosexual role he believed his family and friends wanted for him, and resigned himself to fulfilling the gender norms society presented. But when he met his future wife, Deb, teaching swing dance in Ann Arbor, their relationship was different, and Jim was no longer acting. Time Dances On follows Jim’s journey to self-acceptance. A heartwarming story told from the point of view of Jim’s daughter, Sophia Kruz, the documentary provokes the question: What is a family? |
