Sophia Kruz is an EMMY® Award winning documentary filmmaker and TEDx speaker. Her work has screened at film festivals, museums, libraries, community centers, and health-care facilities across North America, and broadcast on PBS.
Kruz was the 2015-2016 University of Michigan Center for the Education of Women Visiting Social Activist for her independent documentary on the role of art in creating positive global change for women and girls called LITTLE STONES. The feature-length documentary will premiere at the 2017 Vail and Newport Beach Film Festivals.
As a staff member at Detroit Public TV, Kruz produced the PBS documentary RIDE THE TIGER: A Journey Through the Bipolar Brain about neuroscience and bipolar disorder, which was broadcast nationally April 13, 2016. She is a co-founder of the 501c3 non-profit organization Driftseed which seeks to empower women and girls through documentary storytelling.
